It seems as if Spotify wanted to charge extra for lossless audio, but Apple already provides the perk to subscribers of its Student, Individual, and Family plans at no additional cost. Some users speculate that Spotify has been forced to come up with a different gameplan following updates to Apple Music, which introduced its own lossless tier alongside Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos in May 2021.

It looks like Spotify might finally bring HiFi streaming quality to subscribers.
